Student Lounge - Before / After

On November 1st we celebrated the grand opening of the Oberstufenraum, the student lounge for our 10th-12th graders, which was funded with a generous donation from the FRIENDS of the German International School Washington D.C. and the GISW administration. The 12th grade student Design Team of Kyra, Maria, Louisa and Ozan worked with local interior designer and parent of a recent graduate Kim O’Neill, who donated her services, to come up with a design concept to create a fun and relaxing young-adult space that reflects the international nature of the Upper SchoolThe room features stunning original student artwork and has three areas: Chill, Play and Meet. Students can relax in a comfortable lounge area, enjoy fun games or sit together at a table for small meetings or study groups. In just 3 short weeks, this group of talented students, supported by parents, faculty and staff, (especially the ever-resourceful Facilities Crew), all worked together to transform the room into a great space for our hard-working 10th-12th graders.
