In Memoriam: Kurt Bluemel
We hope that you have noticed and admired all those graceful grasses in the two narrow beds in front of the Elementary School. They were purchased in a well -known garden center in Baltimore during the school year 2012/13. Both third grade students and their class teachers, Britta Scholl and Wiebke Reichel, as well as additional volunteers planted them all in the course of one morning.
The German owner of the plant nursery, Kurt Bluemel, died on June 4th at the age of 81. The Elementary School team is very pleased to be part of Kurt Bluemel’s vision to beautify landscapes with grasses and wildflowers. We are sure that the entire German School community will enjoy those outstanding plantings for years to come.
