Used Books
The Buchladen (Book Account) facilitates purchases and sales of used school books on a commission basis.
Purchase of used books:
Used books can be purchased if they are on stock. They will be sold at a discount of between 35% and 65%. Books in mint condition will be 20% off.
Sale of used books:
Used books which are still listed on the book lists can be dropped off for sale throughout the entire academic year. Please avoid the following weeks:
• Weeks of book ordering in February/March
• Weeks of book pickup in May/June
• First school days after summer break in August
We track the seller’s name for each book and keep a computer file where all books are listed.

We sell books on a commission basis: you still own the books until they are sold. Once books are sold the seller receives the revenue minus a 15% commission. If the books do not sell (e.g., bad condition, not on the lists any longer) we will return them. If you do not pick them up we will donate or discard them eventually.
Usually we pay the amount for sold books to the students in school. If you prefer otherwise please provide us with instructions when you hand in the books. We cannot pay larger amounts in cash. In that case the administration will send you a check. Therefore it is important that you provide your contacts as soon as your child leaves the school or you move.
Amounts which are not claimed after 6 months will be considered as contributions. The same applies if we have no way to contact you.
