To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the German School Washington, D.C. used a rebuilt wall – given to the school by the German Embassy in Washington, D.C. and completely divided the school building into an eastern and a western part, recreating the feeling of separation and the lack of freedom.

Alumnus Luke Belenky (Class of 2004), currently at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania , made six saves in goal for the Bucknell Bison. He now has 65 saves this season. Belenky, the son of former English teacher Nicole Belenky, is a junior and majoring in civil engineering.
