Cut-off dates
This year’s cut-off dates are as follows:
First Grade:
Students who turn six (6) by September 1st of a given year are of school age and have to be enrolled in first grade at the beginning of the same year’s school year.
Exceptions:
Students who turn six (6) by October 15th of a given year can be admitted to first grade upon the preschool's or the Kindergarten’s recommendation.
The first grade is attended by children who will have turned 6 years old by September 1 of the calendar year. Children, who turn 6 by December 31 of that same year, may be admitted to the first grade after a formal request, and after an evaluation and consultations between the SEL and the Elementary School.
Kindergarten (="Schuleingangsstufe"):
Children who turn five (5) by September 1st of a given year can be admitted to Kindergarten (="Schuleingangsstufe") in that year.
Exceptions for Kindergarten (="Schuleingangsstufe"):
Children, who turn five (5) by October 15th of a given year, can be admitted to Vorschule during that year upon recommendation of the preschool.
The School Entry Level is attended by children who will have turned 5 years old by September 1 of the calendar year. Children, who turn 5 by December 31 of that same year, may be admitted to the SEL after a formal request, and after an evaluation and consultations between the Preschool, the SEL and the Elementary School.
Parents of children who are born after the cut-off date but are planning to be enrolled in Kindergarten (="Schuleingangsstufe") or first grade, have to submit an application for this by April 15 of the given year.
