Dance into Spring: Spring Ball 2012
There was a very festive atmosphere on March 24th at the Bretton Woods Country Club, and the young ladies and gentlemen that arrived were hardly recognizable. Jeans and t-shirts were exchanged with suits and evening gowns for the night. The students of our dance classes were hardly to be topped and all looked fantastic.
Members of the board of the “Friends” welcomed the more than one hundred guests with a glass of champagne or sparkling cider. The room and tables were decorated with beautiful flowers, arranged and sponsored by Regina and Roberto Gullo. After a welcome by the Chair, Christine Weber, our dance teacher Katja Sipple introduced the students of the beginner class. They performed an arrangement of dances perfectly and were living proof that you not only learn Latin and Math at the DSW, but also tango and waltz! Afterwards daughters and sons bid their fathers and mothers to dance, which was accompanied by a storm of flashlights.
Before going on to the culinary part of the evening, the students of the advanced dance class took over the dance floor. Accompanied by rock’n’roll and tango rhythms not only the ladies whirled through the air, but also the men, which earned a lot of applause.
A delicious buffet of salmon, beef, pilaf and ratatouille strengthened everybody so we could all dance into the night. The wide variety of rhythms and styles played by the band “Impulse” under the guidance of Bob Zunt was hardly to be topped. But only hardly! Even better than “Impulse” alone was of course the combination of “Impulse featuring the DSW Rockband”! Leo Wößner and Philip Lottermoser played two pieces with the band and the crowd clapped and screamed. Even the professional musicians were impressed by the talent of the two members of our school band. (Video)
Unfortunately everything has an end, and so our spring ball ended at midnight. The lucky guests that found a “Friends” sticker under their chair could even take home the flowers.
We are very happy about the excitement of our students and the mood at the ball was so great that we will remember it long. I’d like to thank Katja Sipple for her never-ending efforts, the Gullo family for their flower donations, as well as Regina Gullo and Dipi Wößner for the smooth organization of the spring ball. If you’d like to dance again to the rhythms of the band “Impulse”, you can find all information at Schedule Impulse or simply come to our next spring ball in March 2013.
